Mental Health First Aid: Adult First Aider

This two-day Mental Health First Aid England course qualifies you as a Mental Health First Aider. Course numbers are limited to ensure that you can be safe and supported whilst you learn. Permission is required from Parents/Carers if the delegate is under the age of 16.

Learning takes place in four manageable sessions through a mixture of group activities, presentations and discussions. Each session is built around a Mental Health First Aid action plan, accompanied by a comprehensive set of resources inside your own personal manual.

Course Content:

  • Impact of Mental Health issues
  • Stigma and discrimination
  • MHFA Action Plan (ALGEE)
  • Alcohol, Drugs and Mental Health
  • Suicide and first aid for suicidal crisis
  • Depression: symptoms, risk factors, first aid, treatment, self care & resources
  • Anxiety Disorders: first aid, crisis after a traumatic event
  • Cognitive Disorders and CBT
  • Personality Disorders, Eating Disorders and Self-Harm
  • Psychosis: risk factors, early development signs, crisis first aid for acute psychosis
  • Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder
  • Recovery, building resources and MHFA action planning

Course Costs

  • £250 per person (£200 at Better Pathways venue)
  • £1500 per group (10 maximum)
  • £2100 per group (11-16)
